New hoppa bus route connects Milford and Godalming

Hoppa, the community transport service, has launched a new scheduled bus route between Milford and Godalming, providing an easy and convenient transport option for workers and students.

Route 502 runs from the new housing development Leithfield Park and Milford Hospital via Milford station, Tesco, local schools including Rodborough and Milford Primary, Godalming College and onto Godalming town centre.

The service runs in peak times from 7.30am to 9.30am and 3pm to 5pm, Monday to Friday making it a convenient option for staff from the local schools and colleges, students and residents who work at Milford Hospital. By including a stop at Milford Station, hoppa hopes to help people with their onward journeys to Guildford and other towns too.

“Our aim with this new service is to provide a really convenient option that will take people living all along the route, and particularly the new Leithfield Park development, to the main hubs in and around Godalming, such as the college, local schools and the town centre” says Steve Forward, General Manager of hoppa. “All our buses are easy access and can accommodate wheelchairs and pushchairs – to be honest, it’s probably much easier to use our service than it is to get a pram in and out of a car boot! Anybody using this service will enjoy a warm welcome and a very comfortable ride.”

Ward councillor Richard Seaborne says: “It is fantastic that the people moving into Leithfield Park have this new service immediately available for them to use. It is a convenient and reliable way to take children to school or to get to the station where parking can be a challenge. I urge residents to give it a go.”

The new service has been funded by a levy charged by the local authority to property developers, in this case David Wilson Homes the developers of Leithfield Park, when they build new homes or communities. The levy is used to help pay for new infrastructure and community facilities required as a result of new homes being built.

Leithfield Park residents can catch the bus from the temporary bus stop on Sycamore Avenue.

Hoppa is a not-for-profit community transport company, which provides a number of wheelchair accessible, door-to-door and scheduled bus services in and around Godalming and across Waverley.
